Blogs and Websites

Suggested Design blogs

CR: Offers bite size articles perfect as a starting point for research, to quickly update your knowledge of the design world or simply to just browse for pleasure. The blog is easy to navigate with a large archive of articles covering many design topics.

Design Sponge: If you can look past the overwhelming feeling of the American 'stay at home mom' design ideas then you can really find some gems on this blog. On the 'places' tab they offer city guides for a number of great places. Giving a small amount of background information to begin with, the blog then lists places to eat, visit, see and stay. This again is a great starting point for planning a trip to see some of the worlds greatest design capitals. I myself used it when visiting Amsterdam this summer, some of the advice given on the blog led me to some of the most inspirational places and moments.

Sleevage.com: Sleevage essentially is a great resource for looking up albums and learning more about the context of sleeve design. The blog includes information such as the designers visions for the album cover and the artists musical vision for the album and how the two came together to create the final idea driven sleeve.

Patternbank.com: Patternbank uses its blog to talk about print, pattern and graphic art. Using bright colourful imagery the website is an excellent resource for aesthetic ideas or for anyone interested in pattern and how it may aid visual communication. The site itself is easy to use and well ordered splitting its three main focus areas (graphic art, patterns and prints) into clear sections.
